Gorbea is not a mountain you conquer. It's one you return to. At 1,482 meters, it doesn't break records or make headlines, but it anchors a region and its people. Every Basque child knows the iron cross that crowns its summit.

Hikers and runners climb it in rain and wind—families in muddy boots, athletes in the Gorbeia Suzien Skyrace tracing the same paths their grandparents walked. Myth says that Mari, the Basque earth goddess, lives in a cave on its slopes. She controls storms and seasons, appearing as fire or lightning when the weather breaks. For centuries, her presence has been a reminder that nature is alive and sacred, something to respect, not tame.

This is where the brand began, in the Basque Country, where adventure is woven into daily life and mountains carry memory. It's a reminder that meaning is not only found in the extreme, but in the familiar summit that always waits.

Our design shows Gorbea's broad ridge emerging from mist beneath its iron cross—a symbol of endurance and belonging. Paragliders drift above the summit. Families hike the trails. Old farmers lead traditional horses through the valleys. Runners trace ancient paths. These aren't scenes of conquest, they're rituals of return and connection.

The founder of Gorbea has spent years on these slopes with family, running and climbing, learning what it means to belong to a mountain. Artist Katarina Nord captured that intimacy: the lines speak of roots rather than records, of ritual rather than speed. This is our mountain. Gure mendia.

The Basque mountains face threats from overdevelopment and habitat loss. But local conservation groups work to protect Gorbea's forests, meadows, and biodiversity—preserving the trails and ecosystems that communities depend on. 10% of profits from every Gorbea piece supports this work in the mountains that shaped us.

Our mountain. Gure mendia. Yours too.
